More than 20 scholars at Ivy Preparatory Young Men’s Leadership Academy were recognized as classroom leaders for demonstrating the core values of Ivy Prep – perseverance, responsibility, engagement and professionalism.
The scholars were invited to attend a special lunch with YMLA principal A. Clifton Myles. They were served a catered meal on lunch tables covered with green tablecloths and decorated with balloons.
Myles and his administrative staff served the hot plates to the scholars and complimented them on their achievements.
“We select the top two scholars from every class to invite to ‘Lunch with the Principal’,” Myles said. “They are chosen for exemplifying high values. We reward them for their good work and encourage them to continue to be leaders.”
Among those recognized was new scholar Justin Jackson, a sixth grader who was smiling proudly as he ate lunch with friends. Jackson said he likes to come to school at Ivy Prep. “You have fun learning,” he said. “My favorite subjects are all of them.”
Myles said “Lunch With the Principal” helps to keep some scholars achieving at a high level throughout the school year. It also encourages others to work harder and show good behavior so they can have an opportunity to be recognized as a class leader.
“We have gotten off to good start this year,” Myles said. “We look forward to great things happening at Ivy Prep Young Men’s Leadership Academy. We want to be one of the top schools in the state.”
